FAQs

Snowdonia is a vast area but we are 7 miles from the western edge. The village of Llanberis, home to the Snowdon Railway is 40 minutes drive away. Snowdon itself can be seen from most places on the site.

We have our own dogs, so no pets at the moment.

This is a very sensitive issue. The tents are furnished to a high standard and are designed for couples. Extra adults or children in a tent mean much less room for everyone and consequently the glamping experience is compromised. We pride ourselves on providing a relaxing, easy-going holiday. That usually cannot happen when a tent has 3 or more occupants due to the space for everybody becoming less. Furthermore some unruly children have torn our tents, teased our animals, damaged various other items and wandered into our outbuildings and places that they and their parents have been specifically asked not to go. It is a shame that we can’t accept families but the few have spoilt it for the many. We really do hope you understand. We may consider it for 2018.

Check-in times from 3:30pm on day of arrival to 7:30pm at night (please ensure you allow adequate time for driving to arrive at our site for check-in as we have to show you around the site in daylight for health and safety reasons).

Yes sometimes if available, the booking system will not take these, please contact us by telephone or email for price and availability. All weekend rates apply to 3 nights irrespective of weather you stay 2 or 3 nights. We offer 4 nights for the price of 3 from a Monday & 7 nights for the price of 5 from a Friday to Friday or Monday to Monday.

For some, upon arrival along a 4 mile single lane road the site does feel rather remote. However we are only a mile from the A499, close to many villages, there is a Murco petrol station in our local village, 1.5 miles away and we are 4 miles form a village that has a pub, two small supermarkets and a few take away places. We are located 11 miles from the historic town of Caernarfon and 12 miles from the seaside market town of Pwllheli. About 4 miles away there is an excellent farm shop. With adequate planning you won’t feel remote at all.

The nearest is 2 miles away at Aberdesach. It’s a small, quiet beach with no shops, cafes or ice cream vans. Further afield at Dinas Dinlle is a long sandy Blue Flag beach with a few cafés, shops, and a small aviation museum that offers pleasure flights. Within 15 miles there are many other excellent beaches on the Llŷn peninsula.

Yes we allow open fires, but only in metal fire pits, chimineas etc provided on site only.

You can have a fire going all day and all night should you wish. All we ask is that you remain quiet after 10:00pm. We can provide firewood for your fire pits @ £4.00 per bag on site (prices are subject to change) or you can bring your own, but only wood provided by us can be used in the stoves on site.

We have a very unique old stone barn with two rooms. One has a 10ft long dining table, a gas cooker, microwave, plenty of crockery/pots and pans and utensils, two fridges and a belfast sink with hot water for washing up. Next door is a relaxing area with seating, a large woodburning stove and 6 power points. This area has a selection board games. Guests often arrive with a myriad of things and realise that all they really needed was food and drink. Should you decide to have a barbeque, each tent is equipped with tongs, plates, bowls, cutlery and wine glasses so you don’t need to carry things back and forth from the barn. We like to remind guests that all they really need to come here is food and drink. We believe we have everything else you’ll need.

The composting toilet is a purpose built toilet from Finland. It is clean and does not smell! The spacious hot shower is in a shed that also contains a wash hand basin and small mirror. The open-air shower is also a hot shower with a full length privacy screen but with views of open countryside and Snowdonia – ideal for the more adventurous.

Not everyone get’s the hang of the wood burners but we’re always on hand to help you out. We love the look of our tents with smoke rising from the chimney flues so we encourage guests to use them. They’re fun and add that extra touch to your glamping holiday.

Yes. Perfectly safe as long as guests don’t burn anything apart from wood in them. They have a purposely designed BS Standard chimney flue and a collar where the flue exits the canvas to the outside chimney. For extra safety and peace of mind each tent has a carbon monoxide tester that is tested two or three times a week and the stoves are included in our Annual Site Risk Assessment. Please also note that all wood must be purchased from us on site so we can manage the wood that is used in our wood burners so not to damage them or cause excessive smoke. Thank you.

We sell sacks of firewood and kindling, barbeque fuel and lighters. If you forget anything just ask and we may have one you can borrow to save you wasting time having to go off site etc.

No. But we have wind up lantern, LED battery camping light & solar fairy lights. You are welcome to bring additional lighting but no candles or paraffin lighting may be used in the tent. Candles can be used outside the tent only if holders are used. (This has had to be implemented due to excessive amount of wax spilt on our bedding and furnishings). After all, you are camping! However there are ample power points in the old barn for charging electrical items and for hairdryers etc.

We strictly do not allow no non-paying guests on site.

Yes we take all groups, adult get-togethers for birthday celebrations, anniversary’s, honeymoon, mini moons etc. 18 years and above only. But all our terms & conditions must be adhered to. The Venu @ Pwhelli is great for dancing & partying. Due to the nature of the site i.e. sloping ground, grass can get slippery, we will not accept excessive drinking of alcohol as we are remote and do not want any accidents. We still want you to come, laugh & have a good time with friends etc but will not tolerate unruly behaviour! Why not book a hog roast for your group party we have used a local guy very good, highly recommend him.

Car parking

Since we don't allow cars on the site itself we issue each tent with a colourful wheelbarrow to carry things to and from the tents!

Wheelchair access

We deeply regret that the nature of the site is totally inappropriate for individuals with mobility issues and wheel chair users. Since we are located in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty this situation is not about to change anytime soon since we are not permitted to improve paths and access, we apologise profusely for this inconvenience (it is rather a huge embarassment to us personally that we cannot offer everyone the opportunity to glamp with us, sorry.)
